Introducing the #drupal-design IRC chat room!

I have created a channel for us to facilitate communication.

If by some strange chance you are new to IRC then I recommend that you visit my g.d.o page @ http://groups.drupal.org/node/10440#comment-34293 and see my write up on IRC.
There you will see instructions on how to get an IRC Client running on your sys regardless of whether your MacOS, Linux, or that other one.

Why the room?
The D4D group is a microcosm of the broader Drupal community. As such, communication occurs with varying degrees of efficacy. Among those of us who frequent the IRC channels we have discovered that chance encounters are an excellent means of colaborating, sharing, teaching, learning, etc.
As the D4D site matures and becomes a valuable resource for designers it is our hope that IRC channel can be yet another way to stay connected, but in real time.

Why not use the #drupal-themes channel?
Certainly that room is not heavy in activity and could easily withstand the D4D traffic. That notwithstanding, it would generally be inappropriate for us to suddenly have 10 ppl pop in who were all on a conference call and using the room for the text side of the meeting.
That would be an excellent use of #drupal-design.
Additionally, an ad hoc group of us popping into the theme room and discussing the modules and servers and tech-specs of the D4D website would have nothing to do with theming and might garner a few comments.
Clearly it is just easier to have our own space where we can do as we please.
oh yah...
We have a bot in the room. Thanks to MORBUS! He placed DRUPLICON in our room for us. f you have never seen Druplicon at work, visit #drupal and see just how active a non-human can be in an IRC Channel.
